Manager, Utility Partnerships
Hello. Is it YOU we’re looking for?
Cozy greetings from the Mysa team! We’re a company founded on people-first culture, fuelled by our mission to lead the global shift toward electrification. Through the creation of life-simplifying smart HVAC controls for homes and businesses, we’re helping our customers save energy, money, and the planet we share.
We're looking for a Manager, Utility Partnerships, remotely based in the Eastern U.S., to be Mysa's front-line presence in the region. This is a business development role, not a program administration one - you'll own the Eastern U.S. as your territory, from cold outreach through to close. You'll regularly be out at industry events and in front of utilities and partners, building relationships and growing Mysa’s customer base through utility programs.
In Canada, we've built lasting partnerships with the country's largest utilities, including BC Hydro and Hydro-Québec, and those programs are putting Mysa smart thermostats into homes from coast to coast. Our U.S. footprint is already taking shape, with several live utility programs and more in development. We work closely with key program implementers and aggregators, and our products are available on utility marketplaces across the country. We're now building on that foundation with new partnerships across the U.S. utility ecosystem and a growing platform that goes beyond the thermostat. This is an opportunity to help shape Mysa's next phase of U.S. growth with the ownership to make a visible, measurable impact.
What You Will Do
- Own the Eastern U.S. territory: assess market barriers and opportunities for Mysa products, with a primary focus on utility programs in New England, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Midwest.
- Track and evaluate state electrification policies, regional HVAC trends and utility load management and efficiency programs
- Prospect proactively into utilities and other key stakeholders: cold outreach, warm introductions, conferences, whatever gets you in front of the right person
- Develop new utility programs that include Mysa's products and services, and expand existing programs for Mysa
- Work with Mysa partners on RFI and RFP responses for residential load management
- Be Mysa's regional brand ambassador, expect frequent travel (4-6 trips per quarter) to represent the company in person at industry events, conferences and tradeshows across the region
- Help inform Mysa's product development roadmap with market intel and partner feedback
- Track and manage relationship development, market intel and business opportunities in an AI-powered CRM
Who You Are
- High-energy, dynamic self-starter- proactive to the point of relentless; this role only works if you create your own opportunities
- A builder, not an administrator: energized by developing programs that don't exist yet
- Comfortable driving complex, multi-stakeholder deals with utilities and other partners from cold outreach through to close
- Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Energy, Business or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant business development or industry experience, ideally already embedded in the utility ecosystem
- Knowledge of energy industry and smart home technology
- Highly organized and able to track and develop multiple programs simultaneously
- Clear and compelling communication skills, credible in front of senior stakeholders
- Self-motivated, team player, willing to travel extensively to build in-person relationships
- Experience using Claude Cowork or similar AI tools
Preferred Experience
- Direct experience working for or with electric utilities, DERMS providers or energy service companies
- An existing network of utility contacts in the Eastern U.S.
- Experience with energy policy and utility regulation
